On April 21, 2026, Niara’s platform was intentionally taken offline from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM (BRT). This scheduled window allowed our engineering team to implement critical preventative security measures in response to a widespread incident affecting Vercel, our hosting provider.
We want to lead with the most important information: Niara’s infrastructure was not compromised, and all customer data remains fully secure.
While the downtime was brief, it was a necessary step to insulate our environment and ensure that the issues impacting our provider could not reach our systems. Our priority is, and always will be, the absolute integrity of your data.
History
Yesterday, we learned about a security incident at Vercel, our infrastructure provider. To protect our environment and proactively mitigate any potential risks, the Niara team has implemented a series of preventative security measures.
Actions performed by Niara
To implement these layers of protection with complete safety, Niara was offline for approximately 3 hours. This interval was essential so that our engineering team could carry out structural interventions with minimal impact on the integrity of the services.
- Credential Rotation: We proactively replaced all environment variables, including database passwords, payment system passwords, and API keys.
- New Encryption Key: Although all sensitive data was already encrypted, we performed a change to the internal encryption key. As a consequence, connections to the Google Search Console (GSC) were reset so that the new tokens are saved under this new layer of protection.
- Access Management: Access to Niara remains safe. We use the Clerk for identity management, since they were not affected by this incident, there was no need to reset users’ login passwords.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
- Was my data exposed due to the Vercel incident?
No. There is no evidence that Niara or our clients have been affected. All measures taken were proactive to prevent any vulnerability in Vercel’s infrastructure from being exploited against us.
- Why did Niara stay offline for 3 hours?
To ensure complete security when exchanging encryption keys and environment variables, we opted for a brief maintenance window. This prevented data inconsistencies and ensured that all new layers of protection were applied simultaneously across the entire platform.
- Do I need to change my Niara access password?
That’s not necessary. Your login credentials are managed independently by Clerk, which was not impacted by this incident.
- Why was my connection to Google Search Console disconnected?
Since we’ve changed the internal encryption keys for security reasons, the old access tokens have been invalidated. You will only need to reconnect your GSC account to Niara to continue using features such as Search Analytics, Conversational Analytics, Authority Map, and Site Audit. This process ensures that your new connection already uses the updated security standards. - Is it safe to continue using the platform?
Yes. With the implementation of these measures, Niara’s infrastructure is even more robust. We act proactively so that you can continue focusing on your SEO strategies with complete peace of mind.
